About Megan

In her first round of higher education, Megan completed a BA in Anthropology at the Univeristy of Oregon in 2004. Finding it difficult to turn this education into a career, she discovered the joy of fast cash and a flexible schedule in the restaurant industry. Her career as a server and bartender spanned 15 years of her adult life. In her early 30's she took classes in Web Design and Programming, imagining a wealthier future while working remotely. The classes were fun, but the restaurant industry drew her back in and she began to contemplate a career in wine.

In 2020 things changed

  1. the Covid-19 Pandemic hit
  2. restaurants closed for months or forever, and the industry looked towards a long and uneasy recovery
  3. the idea of a career in tech immediately seemed like the best option for financial security

In May of 2020 Megan started a coding bootcamp named Epicodus. Often she can be found in her guest bedroom coding 12 hours a day to keep up with the grueling coursework. If there happens to be free time, she can be found in her garden, backpacking with her boyfriend and dog, or reading a book about dragons.
